I was born in Saigon VietNam but arrived in America when I was very young. I grew up in rural America but eventually moved to the big city when I was sixteen. Prior to coming to the city, I was mostly speaking English and hanging out with American or Americanized friends. The city was a surprise because the area we moved to had a high percentage of Vietnamese living in there. I began to make friends who spoke Vietnamese fluently, learned the language, learned how to cook Vietnamese food and fell in love with the idea of being Vietnamese as a whole. I am proud to say I am Vietnamese. Since my arrival at the city, I am now fluent in the Vietnamese language, and an avid Vietnamese cook. My hope is to share some Vietnamese cultures and its food in this journal.
